Western Caribbean on the Magic

A magical trip to the Caribbean from Galveston.  My mother's birthday was coming up, and for her 65th Birthday, I decided to surprise her with a Cruise on  the Magic.  7 wonderful days, we cruised to Jamaica Montego Bay, known as "Mo' Bay" to the locals, is Jamaica's second largest community. Gorgeous white-sand beaches and mangrove wetlands surround the old town, which rests at the bottom of lush green mountains. Montego Bay and the surrounding area offers the best of the Caribbean, including the nearby, historic town of Falmouth and its beautiful Georgian architecture. Surround yourself with the essence of Jamaica in the island's friendliest city. In Montego Bay, you’re also close to Ocho Rios, which features the popular Dunn’s River Falls.  We took a tour into Jamaica and toured the 1800 Plantation, what a wonderful place to visit, so lovely, the staff was so polite, even after Lisa, myself and my mom (Cynthia) got on the wrong bus, it was like a Lucy and Ethel plus one episode.  Halfway though the tour, the bus stops and ask if (we) the three ladies, where on the right bus.  Turns out we where on the wrong bus and the wrong tour, I was not about to get off and start the right tour which was a walking tour, so we asked if we could pay the difference, the tour company agreed, after that we refered to as the three run a ways.

Grand Caymans, First sited by Christopher Columbus the Cayman Islands can boast itself as a major international financial center thanks to the notable fact it has more registered businesses than it does people. Don’t let business distract you from the beauty of this tropical paradise. Consisting of three islands, the Caymans are a haven for snorkelers and scuba enthusiasts alike. Whether it’s a swim with stingrays or a dive to explore the remains of one its several shipwrecks, the Caymans offer plenty for the water enthusiast. For a more laid back experience, visit Seven Mile Beach, on which a number of the islands’ hotels and resorts are located. The Cayman Islands are a must for the person looking for it all. Come and experience everything offered by this lush tropical paradise.  This is my new island.

Cozumel, unlike no other and the beaches stretches far beyond its spectacular shores.  A world Famous dive site, A tranquil oasis, abundant with warm welcomes around every corner.  Cozumel is a destination you will soon want to experience again and again.

Spring Chicken Travel - Cindy Frost: Top Dream Vacation Beach Resorts

Spring Chicken Travel - Cindy Frost: Top Dream Vacation Beach Resorts

Los Cabo Mexico

Our Dream 25th Anniversary has arrived and off to see the whales I have always dreamed of, we arrived on a Thursday in early March, Whale season,
We land in Los Cabos and immediately do our best to out smart the time-share sharks. TIP: Out Smart the Time Share Sharks, simply just walk right passed them, with a polite no thank you, your transfer service is waiting for you outside of the terminal. TIP: Your travel agency will provide you with you transfer service name, please bring this information along with you.

The drive from the airport in San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas started smoothly, our transfer service was waiting for us as planned, we soon hit the highway and the scenery was breath taken. Soon the mega-resorts of the tourist corridor came into view. Let me tell you, even from the road, they were quite impressive. Also mixed in were some of the best manicured golf courses I have ever seen. The more I think about those golf courses though; I wonder if they looked so good because they were the only thing green I saw the whole trip. This place is definitely a desert oasis. We arrived at our hotel, only to witness the striking setting of RIU's all-inclusive Los Cabos hotels, situated on the southern tip of the peninsula of Baja California. Los Cabos is one of the most beautiful and exclusive destinations in Mexico. This zone, located between the towns of San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, surprises for the many attractions it offers. Overlooking a beach of dazzling white sand, RIU's majestic Los Cabos hotel resorts offer exceptional service, along with a wide range of leisure options in the surrounding area., we entered this hotel and it was completely open, no walls, air flowing through the main building, check in was rather smooth, we started our walk with a map in hand, this resort must have been several hundred acres of Santa Fe Condo style settings, our room was located in one of the towers this property offered, with an awesome view of the pools, overlooking the ocean, and just above the steak house, the aromas was define, if only we could have ate there, it smelled heavenly, TIP: Call ahead and make reservations for any of the 5 different restaurants on site, now of course the RIU is an all inclusive resort with a spectacular buffet style dining room and eatery, you have a massive array of different types of entrees, cheeses, dessert, bread, fruits and ect. Our room was provided with a stocked bar daily, balcony, Santa Fe decor, very nice occupations, room service was very friendly, we settled in quickly and off to explore the pool and grounds, first stop was to book our excursion to go whale watching, TIP: Your travel Agent will provide you with your excursion representative name, please read all information and bring with you. Scott and I booked our Grey Whale Sightings tour. Our trip was scheduled for 10:00 the next morning, I am so excited, this is what I have been waiting for:

Grey whale sightings
A unique spectacle. Every winter, between December and March, these cetaceans weighing over 40 tonnes choose the waters of Baja California to reproduce. You will be able to see some of these mammals "spyhopping" - performing vertical jumps that bring their whole body out of the water - by signing up for a boat trip or from one of the viewpoints who will enjoy a ride like never before, I must first explain that My husband Scott is a Avid Deer Hunter, whose main way of hunting is chasing game in his jeep, chasing after these gently giant whales was high on the adrenaline rush experience and right up his alley, I however was so amazed at these gentle giant creatures, we spent an afternoon aboard this huge sailing catamaran, enjoying comfort and stability only before available to the super rich, now without the multimillion dollar price tag. We Enjoyed the spacious sundecks, trampolines and air conditioned salons with first class service as we cruised along some of the most diverse ecosystems in the world searching for the Grey Whales, after about 45 minutes out to sea, off in the distance you could see this small blow hole and your adrenaline would start to pump, our boat and the other 15 boats in the water at the same time, searching for these massive creatures all starting full blast heading for the sightings, these gentle giants we where chasing we even larger than the catamaran, and when these Grey Whales would start to surfaces you could see their skin illumination underwater and as they started to the surfaces, they would explode right out of the water right in front of you, beside you and sometimes more than one would be showing off at the same time, jumping up and landing on their backs, what a site, Our captain would announce, their turning right, our boat would go, blasting through the marine blue ocean waters at high speeds trying to keep up with these Whales, An adrenaline-pumping good time I will never forgot. We kept this up for over an hour until the whales just swam away. We where offered a traditional Mexican style lunch and enjoyed and cold drink, On the way back to the Marina, we stopped and listen and watched the most fascinating celebrities in these tropical waters, these sea lions are actually resident fauna who make their home at the southern tip of Baja. When we checked into our room, I told Scott I hear Sea Lions, Wow I was so amazed right from our room, we could hear these beautiful sea mammals, what a day, this was defiantly was worth waiting for, I will never forget this adventure.
Shopping
There are allot of things to do and see in Cabo, whether it be shopping in Plaza Puerto Paraíso, Plaza del Mar, Sol Dorado, Plaza Bonita, Almacén Goncaseco and Copal you will be able to find the most exclusive international brands. If you are looking for local crafts, you can acquire them in the numerous markets and specialist shops. There is a predominance of blown-glass creations and black coral jewelry. You will also find leather items and carved wooden figures. Cabo is home to Sammy Hager club called the Cabo Wabo, there are hidden eatery in town, romantic horse and buggy rides and then there are the dune buggy’s which I did, but not my cup of tea, Scott loved it, he put the pedal to the metal and we had lots of fun! We kicked up sand alongside the Pacific Ocean, pound out the trail through dry river beds, and explored Half Moon Canyon, before returning to our resort.
Dining
For diners seeking a true Mexican culinary experience, authentic restaurants abound. Mexican cuisine, born of the union of pre-Columbian and Spanish cultures — with almost five hundred years of gastronomic fusion — is known the world over. Fresh ingredients meld with a cornucopia of chilies and exotic herbs and spices, creating fabulous dishes and enhanced flavor for meals you will be raving about for years! And as Los Cabos grows and evolves, so does the variety of culinary delights. Fine Italian, European, American and pan-Asian eateries thrive in diverse and delightful settings. Fresh seafood is a big draw, prepared every way imaginable. Dress up or down, relax, and indulge your palate.
Can’t wait to go back HERE. AMAZING Place and Resort
The whole travel Experience to Cabo Mexico was amazing, if you would like to venture down south at the end of the Land, call me and I will be glad to plan your 40 tonnes of fun.

Our Ship was a little late departing, one of the crew members must of been at the mall (this is not a fact, just an made up assumption). We spent Four days together, some went their own way, some made new friends, some spent their time together, some even exercised on this trip, you go girls. What fun we had, we had dinner in the main dinning room, oh my gosh, what a feast each night, my favorite is the Mouton Chocolate Cake, this is to die for.

We had a four course meal each day, great food and our dinner conversations were never dull.

Eight of us had a private toured dinner with the Chef, we meet in the ship galley and toured the kitchen, we where served several tasty h'orderves and champagne as the chef explained how he feeds 2000 plus the crew each day , our first stop was how to make the Chocolate mouton cake, for the life of me I can not remember the recipe, must of had too much fun. The tour lasted about 45 minutes, we were then lead to the ship's library, where a private table of 12 was set up with elegant dishes and tableware, the chef and his wonderful staff started off our dinner with and explanation of each dish, we had an eight course meal, that's right eight courses, this dinner lasted over three hours, we laughed, some drank wine and ate till we could not see straight, the final meal was the Filet Mignon and it was awesome and of course what else would we have for desert but…

The Famous

Chocolate Mouton Cake.

What a fabulous dinner and experience. This is defiantly a checked item on my bucket list. We where then presented with a gift from the Chef, a personalized Cook Book signed by him, what a treat. I will never forget this trip.
